Text Anyalyis Common Sense

Who is writing?
Thomas Paine wrote this document called Common Sense. This contains his thoughts of American affairs, which is "nothing more than simple facts, plain arguments, and common sense"

Who is the audience?

The audience was anyone who was interested in his opinion. It was mostly directed to Colonists in America.


Who do the writers represent?

The writer represents himself, and his opinion.


What is being said, argued and/or requested?

He is arguing that America is good on its own, and does not need Great Britain.. He believes America should not reconcile with Britain.


How is it being said, argued and/or requested? He sounds very educated, and very opinionated.


What proof and/or justification is being used to legitimize the request?Common Sense,he explains why America should not reconcile and compares the consequences of each action and he believes that giving Britain power is not the best action to take.
